This is a technique class and a social sewing afternoon if you choose. The pattern is based on Tula Pink's Bird Seed Quilt. In the morning we will be looking at the no-waste method of making flying geese blocks as well as a fun and easy orange peel block that avoids curved piecing. The afternoon will be available for working on your blocks in a relaxed social sewing session with Jen in attendance. The pattern is included in the class.

With all of the focus on machine quilting both domestic and longarm, hand quilting is becoming a bit of a lost art. In this class you will learn basting, marking and stitching. If you enjoy hand work, you'll enjoy this class.

Learn the fun of being able to quilt your own quilt using your free motion quilting foot. Shelley will show you her marking techniques and how to get a nice steady stitch.

These are super fun to make! Little gathered circles of fabric that can be used to adorn clothing, tea towels and quilts of course. Yo-Yos were popular from the 1920s to the 1940s. They are simple, made up by hand and give a wonderful 3-dimesional effect.

Using the pattern Quarter Sections, you'll learn the basic techniques of quilting, starting by choosing your own fabrics and moving on to rotary cutting, strip piecing, setting blocks, borders and binding. Class will be completed in 4 evenings.

In this class you'll put to use the skills you learned in Skillbuilder classes #1 and #2. You will learn to assemble HSTs to create a pinwheel with fanned seams and points that effortlessly all meet in the center. Next you'll learn how to sew the sashing frame around the pinwheel. Accuracy is important with this center block. Learn how to measure and adjust the center block. With center block complete you will learn how to sew, nest and press HSTs together in rows to complete the block. This is a great class for beginner and experienced quilters alike.

In this class you will learn Fabric Preparation; Pressing Techniques; Cutting strips, squares and half-square triangles; choosing rulers; Pinless Piecing; Organizing blocks; Finding accuracy with your sewing machine.

Note: Class #21 is a prerequisite to this class. In this class you'll put to use the skills you used in Skillbuilder Piecing Class #1. You will learn how to strip piece units, sub-cut and nest seams to create easy and accurate 9-Patches. From there you will learn, step by step, the order to assemble Half Square Triangles to create pinwheels with fanned seams and points that all effortlessly meet in the center. Next you'll learn how to cut and sew sashing and cornerstones around the pinwheels. With blocks complete we will add sashing and begin sewing blocks into rows. This is a great class for beginners and experienced quilters alike.

This class is a great alternative if you're not a fan of free-motion quilting. Using your machine's walking foot Shelley will show you how to mark your quilt as well as some really great designs.
