This is a technique class and a social sewing afternoon if you choose. The pattern is based on Tula Pink's Bird Seed Quilt. In the morning we will be looking at the no-waste method of making flying geese blocks as well as a fun and easy orange peel block that avoids curved piecing. The afternoon will be available for working on your blocks in a relaxed social sewing session with Jen in attendance. The pattern is included in the class.

Join Bernie in this fun and informative class and learn how to give your Singer Featherweight the TLC it needs. Learn about oiling, belt tension, motor brushes, tension calibration and more. In the process you will be giving your beloved machine a supervised tune-up. Bernie will have common replacement parts available just in case they are needed. Please note this class is for Singer Featherweights only. No other older straight stitch machines please!

Learn to make these quick and pretty bowls using cotton clothesline rope. They can be natural looking or can be jazzed up with fabric strips too. Super fun and easy.

Working with the same primary colours used in the textile industry, your will see with your own eyes what two and three colours mixed together actually look like. Through the process of creating a simple colour wheel you will learn about primary, secondary and tertiary colours. While filling in simple shapes your will learn about colour plans and how to use them to create emotions from calm to exciting in your quilts. During class we will take a stroll through the store and look at the many varieties of visual texture on the shelves. Through this you will learn how to combine small, medium and large prints along with solids stripes and polka dots. Through the process of mixing your own colours and understanding how to combine a variety of visual textures you will gain the knowledge you need to select colours and prints for your next quilt with confidence. Join us for a fun day creating Dynamic Dresdens using Susan Cleveland's innovative and easy to follow techniques. Create contemporary Dresdens with pointy points, flat units and no appliqued centers! Learn how easy it is to create spinning, kaleidocopic and other fabulous effects through fussy cutting. In this class you will also learn how to set up your sewing machine for accurate piecing from the right needle and thread to the best foot for the job for best results. This is a fabulous class to learn how to turn traditional Dresdens into new modern Dynamic Dresdens!

Economy Blocks (also known as a square-in-a-square block) are ideal for fussy cut fabrics. Perfect for those cute pictorial prints that you aren't too sure what to do with. You also don't have to fussy cut the centres. Part of the beauty of this block is its versatility.

EPP is stitched by hand and is a perfect technique for taking with you to places where you may have to do some waiting. This wonderful "slow stitching" method allows you to create simple flowers to intricate designs like millefiore quilts.

With all of the focus on machine quilting both domestic and longarm, hand quilting is becoming a bit of a lost art. In this class you will learn basting, marking and stitching. If you enjoy hand work, you'll enjoy this class.

Learn the fun of being able to quilt your own quilt using your free motion quilting foot. Shelley will show you her marking techniques and how to get a nice steady stitch. Shelley will lead you through several exercises including how to stipple, pebble, make loops, feathers, follow lines and share with you great tips and tricks that she has picked up over the years to help demystify the fine art of free-motion quilting.

In this class you'll put to use the skills you learned in Skillbuilder classes #1 (Skill Builder #1 is a prerequisite). You will learn to assemble HSTs to create a pinwheel with fanned seams and points that effortlessly all meet in the center. Next you'll learn how to sew the sashing frame around the pinwheel. Accuracy is important with this center block. Learn how to measure and adjust the center block. With center block complete you will learn how to sew, nest and press HSTs together in rows to complete the block. This is a great class for beginner and experienced quilters alike.

Are you embarking on your quilt journey but don't know where to begin? Have you made some quilts bu aren't getting satisfactory results? If yes, then this class is for you. Join Shelley and Bernie in this hands-on Skill Building class and learn how fabric preparation and pressing can change you end result. From there learn how to set up your sewing machine to achieve the best result including what needle, thread and presser foot are the best combination for accurate piecing. Learn how to cut long strips with accuracy. While sewing strips together find your true patchwork seam on your own sewing machine. You will also learn how to chain piece, sub-cut, create accurate Half-Square Triangles and more. This is a great class for beginners and up.
