  • You receive a 15% discount on any supplies you purchase for the class.
  • Class Fees are payable at the time of registration. 
  • No refund or exchange is given on classes within 7 days of the class date. We have tried to be flexible with this in the past, but have to tighten up this rule. We try hard to accommodate hardships, but we can’t give refunds if someone just forgets to turn up. Please mark down your dates.
  • A full refund is issued if the class is cancelled due to insufficient enrolment. You will be given a week’s notice if this occurs.
  • Class size is a minimum of 3 people, maximum of 6 people.
  • Supply lists are available when you register, but it is wise not to purchase anything new until a week before the class starts.
  • Classroom Machines: We have a simple Janome and a lovely Pfaff available for use in class. Please mention when you register whether you need to use a class machine. You'll just need a pack of needles and a bobbin.

1. Learn to Quilt: 7 weeks (21 hours of classes) ....Sandy../$148.00

Embark on a great hobby and meet new people at the same time. You'll learn the basic techniques of quilting, from choosing fabrics to rotary cutting, strip piecing, setting blocks, borders, binding, and quilting by hand and machine. The instructor is one of the most experienced quilters and quilt teachers available, and is a treasure store of information. You will lay a good foundation for all future quilting projects.

2. Machine Quilting Techniques: two 3-hour classes....Sandy../$44.00

You will be excited to use your sewing machine to quilt those tops that are stacking up. Using a preprinted panel, you will learn to do free motion quilting and fine-tune your tension settings and needle/thread combinations. You'll also see how different batting and thread affects the look of the quilt.

3. Quilt your quilt as you go in sections!!! .. Joan, $44.00

Wow, it is a lot easier to quilt a quilt in smaller pieces than trying to manoeuver a large quilt through your little sewing machine. Joan has some good tips for you!! Note: this is not a class on learning to machine quilt!! (that is class #2)

4. Borders and Bindings: one 4-hour class. ....Sandy../$34.00, includes fabric kit

Finishing your quilt!! Measuring for borders, sewing them on, sandwiching the quilt and sewing on the binding with nice crisp corners

5. Just Bindings: one 2- hour class, Deb/ $15.00

Probably the technique we're asked about most often is "how do you do a mitred binding???" This is so hard to describe and yet if you walk through it with a sample, it is not hard to do at all.

6. Hand Quilting: two 3-hour classes ....Deb Baumann.../$44.00

Quilting your project by hand not only results in a heirloom quality quilt, but the process is wonderfully peaceful and relaxing. Deb has lots of tips on how to perfect your stitch.

7. Quilt-Math......two 3-hour classes.... Jenn, $44.00

Jenn, our math whiz will help you make sense of all those numbers. Specifically, you will learn how to calculate how much fabric you need for your projects. This is helpful to understand or alter patterns, and gives you the foundation to plan your own quilting project.

8. Stack the Deck!! (a Buggy Barn style technique) two 3-hour classes ...Sandy../$44.00

This is a technique that involves stacking your fabrics, cutting through all layers, and reassembling them in different colour combinations. There are a wide variety of patterns that use this technique.

9. Disappearing Nine-Patch: one 3 hour class...teacher tba... . $22.00

This is a quick piecing technique that has you amazed by how you can make beautiful quilts so easily. Many sizes and settings let you repeat this technique many times without having the quilts look alike! You can use charm squares for this one.

10.Fusible Applique: two 3-hour classes teacher tba... $44.00

This project is to learn the basics of quick applique with fusible web. It will focus on how to machine stitch the appliques for different effects.

11. Log Cabin Mania, one 3 hour class, Deb, $22.00

This is a quick start class where you will learn the basic techniques of how to develop your own log-cabin project, and talk about all sorts of variations on it.

12. Lone Star! ..three 3-hour classes.... Jenn, $64.00

Some times called Star of Bethlehem, or Lone Star, this is a large radiant star, a very dramatic design.


13. Magic Tiles... two 3-hour classes...tba/ $44.00

This is a modern classic quilt design. It is the stack/cut/shift and sew technique that led to other designs. However, it stands the test of time, and it is a fun technique that you will make over and over again.


14. Kaleidoscope Stack and Whack... two 3-hour classes... / $44.00

Cutting and sewing 45° or 60° angles can be scary to quilters who often stick to squares and rectangles. However, the possibilities to create these kaleidoscope designs make that risk worth taking!

15. Yellow Brick Road: one 6-hour class .. ../$44.00

This is a whole day mini retreat. It is geared to beginner quilters who want to become more familiar with reading patterns, and setting blocks.

16. Envelope Style Place-mats ....one 3-hour session....Joan $22.00

These place-mats sew up like a dream, in a very efficient manner so that you can feel glad about giving them for gifts or for other occasions when you need to make lots of them!

17. Nine-Patch Pizzaz.. ..two 3-hour classes ..Wendy../$44.00

Make an "art" quilt by combining focus blocks cut from a special fabric or panel with color co-ordinated nine patch blocks. Every quilt can be different, and you won't be able to stop at sewing "just one"!

18. Beginner Bargello: two 3-hour classes ....Sandy../$44.00

We've always had lots of requests for a class in this technique, and have persuaded Sandy to take up the challenge of teaching it. This technique will open your mind to the possibilities of strip piecing, and the designs are fascinating.

19. Paper-Piecing: two 3- hour classes... Nancy / $44.00

This technique is good to precisely piece intricate patterns or pictures. It is a bit tricky to get the hang of, but once you do, you will be happy to know how to do this!

20. Crazy Quilting:... two 3-hour classes... Deb /$44.00

In the past we have offered the traditional crazy quilting by hand, but in this class, it is machine pieced, and then embellished by hand.

21. Ragged Flannel Quilt... one 3 hour class .. teacher TBA./$23.00 includes pattern

A ragged flannel quilt is wonderfully comfortable and soft. The construction is not a typical way to put quilts together, but it is very quick. You'll be sure to finish this project and be very happy using it.

22. Hand Sashiko...two 3-hour classes.. Deb Baumann/ $44.00

Capture the essence of Japanese design with this traditional technique of using decorative stitching to create striking patterns on fabric with lines of simple running stitch.

23. Redwork, Bluework: one 3-hour class ....Deb B../$22.00

When you see a redwork quilt, you might be reminded of quilts from the 1930's, when they were all the rage. Using the two-colour fabric combination in a quilt is also quite an interesting design project. You will be inspired by the samples Deb has to show you, and you'll learn the basic embroidery stitch used, as well as how to transfer the designs to your fabric and how to use your completed stitchery in a larger project.

24 .Locker Rug Hooking ... one 3-hour class $22.00

Yet one more way to make rugs!! This technique uses strips of regular cotton fabric, pulled through a mesh.

25. Fabric Coil Bowls: one 3-hour class ....Patti../$22.00

This is a fun way to use fabric to make interesting and useful containers. You will be able to take home a finished bowl from the class.

26. Punch-needle Embroidery: one 3-hour class ....J.Linda../$22.00

This is an easy handwork technique that yields exquisite little pictures that look like miniature hooked rugs. You'll be surprised at how easy it is and how quickly the project works up. You'll need to purchase a punch-needle if you haven't already got one.

27. Needle Felting : one 3 hour class ...Patti ./$22.00

This is a technique that uses some special needles to work with wool. You can use felted wool, wool yarn, or roving, in these projects.

28. Passion for Pillowcases... One 3 hour class.. Debbie/ $22.00

If you are new to sewing, this will show you how to sew straight seams, finish the edges and learn a bit about fabric. Plus it is great to have a special pillowcase to brighten up your winter!


29. Apron-ology ... one 3 hour class,.... Debbie/ $22.00

Use all sorts of fabrics and embellishments to make adorable and useful aprons. You will make a basic apron in class and develop tons of ideas for variations on it. A good project to develop confidence in your sewing skills.

30. "Quilt till you wilt:" ..with a staff member../$20.00 includes supper

This is an opportunity to sew with others and socialize as you sew. Bring your project, but leave your interruptions at home and you will be amazed at how much you can accomplish in this time. No formal instruction, but lots of informal advice and sharing of tips! 3 p.m. to ...

Some of you have asked for a place and a day to just get together with others to sew and socialize. This is for you! There's no instruction available. Brown bag it, or plan a lunch out together as well
