To register for any of the classes listed here, or to obtain more information,

General Information back to the top

  • You receive a 15% discount on any supplies you purchase for the class.
  • Class Fees are payable at the time of registration. 
  • No refund or exchange is given on classes within 7 days of the class date. We have tried to be flexible with this in the past, but have to tighten up this rule. We try hard to accommodate hardships, but we can’t give refunds if someone just forgets to turn up. Please mark down your dates.
  • A full refund is issued if the class is cancelled due to insufficient enrolment. You will be given a week’s notice if this occurs.
  • Class size is a minimum of 3 people, maximum of 6 people.
  • Supply lists are available when you register, but it is wise not to purchase anything new until a week before the class starts.
  • Classroom Machines: We have a simple Janome and a lovely Pfaff available for use in class. Please mention when you register whether you need to use a class machine. You'll just need a pack of needles and a bobbin.

Basic Skills (Beginner Level Classes) back to the top

1. Learn to Quilt: 7 weeks .....  Sandy or Deb /  $148.00

Embark on a great hobby and meet new people at the same time. You'll   the basics of rotary cutting, strip piecing, block setting, borders and binding, and quilting by hand and machine.  The instructor is one of the most experienced quilters and quilt teachers available, and is a treasure store of information.  You will lay a good foundation for your future quilting projects..

2. Stack the Deck/Buggy Barn Basics  one full day, $44.00 back to Basic Skills

There's a technique in quilting that involves stacking different fabrics, making a cut through all the layers and reassembling them in different color combinations.  The Buggy Barn designers have really done a wide variety of patterns and there is also a variety of Stack 'n Slash books with great designs as well.  It's a fun techniquee, and one you will be glad you tried..

3. Ragged Flannel Quilt, Level I: 3 hours .... Wendy or Deb  /  $23.00 (includes Pattern)   back to Basic Skills

A ragged flannel quilt is very cozy, and the seams are turned into fluffy fringeon the top of the quilt.  This project is perfect for a new quilter to sample how much FUN quilting can be, or an exciting technique for experienced quilters to see progress FAST. The flannels make it a very soft cuddly quilt. Pattern included. Limit 6 per class.

4. Machine Quilting: 6 hours with Sandy, all levels /  $44.00 back to Basic Skills

You will learn to use your machine to add texture and depth to your projects using free motion, stippling and basic straight stitch. You’ll see how different batting and thread affect the look, and fine-tune your tension settings and needle/thread combinations to make the process as trouble-free as possible.

5. Planning Your Quilting Design .... 6 hours,   all levels  / $44.00 back to Basic Skills

This is a design class to get all sorts of hints and techniques about how to decide on and execute the "quilting" part of your projects.  Usually the instructions just say, "Quilt as desired", but how helpful is that?!   Learn some of the things to consider in order to make the quilting truly the "icing on the cake".

    6.  Aprons!: 3 hours /    Deb    $22.00 (pattern included)  back to Basic Skills

    Aprons are back in style, that is if they ever went out of style.  What is new is all the stylish patterns that are turning up these days, not only for adults, but for little girls too.  They are so cute!! This is a nice introduction to sewing if you are new to it. .

    7.  Borders and Binding: 3 hours ... Sandy / $28.00 (includes kit) back to Basic Skills

    Finishing the quilt!!  Measuring for borders, sandwiching the quilt and putting on the binding are important parts of the whole quilting experience. Learn these techniques and some hanging sleeve and label ideas as well.

    You'll do activities that focus on the basics of color theory including the color wheel, value, why value matters, what textures exist in fabrics and how to use them.  Lots of discussion and lots of fun...

    9.  Composition and Design in Quilts:  two 3 hour classes ....Judy/$42.00  back to Basic Skills

    Exercises with fabric will focus on concepts such as balance, eye pathways, background and foreground, patter, borders and the central area, unity and variety   Empasis will be on individual choices, and students will better understand what is important in a coposition, and what sorts of design elements they most want to use in their own quilts.

    10. Color Inside and Outside the Lines: two 3 hour classes... Judy/ $42.00  back to Basic Skills

    Making a strip-pieced backgound provides a good overview of the sorts of calculations needed when beginning a project.  Then, black oulines are placed where the elements and composition come into play.  You will probaboly go home with a completed top, with your project well underway.

    12. Punchneedle Embroidery back to Not Just Quilting

    This is an easy technique that yields exquisite little pictures that look like miniature hooked rugs. You'll be surprised at how easy it is, and how quickly the project works up. You'll need to purchase a punchneedle if you haven't got one This is a really fun class.

    Learn to braid your own rug in this timeless technique. You’ll make a small round version. You can use up all those unknown fiber fabrics in your stash to make something that is both practical and beautiful! (See also Intermediate Rug Braiding below.)

    This project class is a lot of fun, and you  may just be putting the binding on by the end of the class!! It is a sew and flip technique done right on your batting and backing, so it is quilted as you piece it!!!

    This technique is a type of raw edge appliqué combined with a nifty cutting technique that sews up quite fast. You can choose from different shapes and settings to alter this quilt's design. It's excellent opportunity to use leftover fabrics from other projects. We also have a kit for this quilt.

    30. Reversible Quilting: 6 hours ... Flora /  $42.00 back to Specific Techniques

    In this technique you sew the front and back of the quilt at once, forming patterns on both sides of the quilt. The blocks are connected after they are sewn and quilted. You can have a lot of fun picking the fabrics for this project.

     Make an "art" quilt by combining focus blocks cut from a special fabric or panel with color co-ordinated nine-patch blocks. Every quilt can be different, and you won't be able to stop sewing at "just one".

    This technique emulates the look of stained glass in fabric. This is not the technique that uses the bias tape, but rather, the outlines are cut from one large piece of black fabric that overlays the colored patches
