What is a BOM: 'Block of the Month'?

Through our 'Block of the Month' (BOM) program, we make kits available (i.e. the pattern and fabric) for a project on a timed basis. There are different details for every Block of the Month project, such as how many months it runs, how much it costs, whether sign-up is required, and so on. The three Block of the Month projects shown below are currently available, including by mail order.

Current BOM Projects

1. Saturday Surprise Sampler 2007-8 (Round 6)—"Sun, Sky and Sea"

Our most popular Block of the Month by far. This is the 6th time we've offered this project, and we are very excited about the possibilities for new quilt projects.

How it works:    Each kit includes the fabric and pattern for a block you can make12" finished size. You do whatever you want with your blocks, from making a queen size quilt, or 2 single quilts, or even just a few baby quilts or table runners.

Fabrics:  This Year we are offering the kits in two different colorways.

One colorway is in Hot Tropical Batiks that are absolutely mouthwatering!

The other set of fabrics is a combination of light turquoise, light green, ivory and dark brown!  Very stylish.  Those will be the colors in the blocks, but there are other fabrics in the main collection from moda that blend in red, and pink looks good with these fabrics too.  That way you can really customize your quilt in what fabrics you choose for your setting.

Following Pickup / Mailing Dates:

We have finished the blocks for this year, and will be looking forward to the show and tell in Sept. to see what everyone has done with their blocks!!  I have started setting mine together!!! I decided to make 2 smaller quilts from my sun and sky blocks, one uses 9 blocks, the other uses 12.  Who knows if I'll have them all together by September... thinking of doing some applique on them.

Sept 20, 2008    Reunion Day to show and tell from last season's blocks! Remember to bring whatever you have done, anything from a finished quilt to a stack of white paper bags, and you'll get that days block free!  Get here early (9:30!!!) so you don't miss any of the show and tell!!!

Other info: buy as few or as many kits as you like—if you buy at least 10 kits, you can get 30% off the fabric to finish your quilt top.

 There are going to be some gorgeous quilts from the blocks we sewed last year!!Be sure to come for the show and tell on Saturday morning, September 20 .  Bring your camera!! We'll have refreshments too!

Next Round starts on Sept. 6, 2008!!!! Right now we're considering what fabric palettes to use!!!  Thinking about one of them being from Kansas Troubles by moda....  If you have any great ideas let me (Michelle) know asap!  email me at peri@sasktel.net
